PICKLE

Pickle has entered the ranks of being a famous dog. He has appeared on TV, in newspapers and in magazines. He is the dog I use on the covers of the Dogwalk issues.

He was born on 18 November 2001 on a farm in the Mazowe area of Zimbabwe. I used to travel up there for business and he was the nephew and grandson of some of the dogs on the farm where I stayed. Since January 2002, he has lived in Parkhurst, Johannesburg. He gets a walk every day in the Verity Park in Parkhurst. He has been on every Every walk I featured in the Dogwalk magazines.

He has had loads of training, although you wouldn't think so sometimes. He has even received a Good Citizenship Diploma from the Kennel Union of SA. We used to compete in Jumping and Agility, but he didn't like all the fuss and I didn't like getting up at 6am on a Sunday. Now we just laze around the house and do the walks you see on this website.

Other famous Jack Russells

Chalky: the REAL star of Rick Stein's Food Odyssey series. He was is so popular that he was "written out" of the latest series in France (the claimed the vet said he was too old at 15 years, but we all KNOW the real reason - Rick was jealous of his dog's fame).

Eddy: Also the real star of the Frasier TV series. Apparently he was a rescue dog who was saved by a dog trainer and has since become famous. Apart from the NBC sitcom he has appeared as the star of the Rolled Gold Pretzel commercial--parachuted into Super Bowl '96, with Jerry Seinfeld star Jason Alexander. And he was the Super Bowl ticket hiding dog for Super Bowl '97, in the Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial.

Nipper: The famous label of His Masters Voice Records. He was a real dog who apparently used to nip at people's legs, hence his name. Click here to read his history.
